Neil – Principal
Neil started at The Academy as a volunteer in 2014 and then moved on to assist in acting. He then went on to become a tutor of Topaz group before moving on to becoming one of the singing tutors. He has many years of experience in amateur theatre on and off the stage. Neil started performing at the age of 7 and has gone on to be the director and take lead roles in major musicals and pantomime. In his spare time he runs an amateur theatre group ‘Westwell Players‘ nr Ashford and now The Academy too. Neil has 5 children that keep him on his toes!
Neil loves nothing more than being silly and making everyone laugh!
Monika – Tutor
Monika joined The Academy in 2013. She has trained and gained a BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts. She is a regular singer/actor/musical theatre performer in local amateur groups and has played many lead roles including one her favourites: Delores Van Cartier in Sister Act the Musical. Monika performs at local events and pubs.
Monika is a fabulous tutor who gets the most from the children.
Georgie – Tutor
Georgie has been the dance tutor for The Academy for around 7 years. She has been dancing since the age of 2 and trained in various styles of dance as well as gaining qualifications in dance, including my BA Hons Degree. “I love teaching at the academy and seeing all of the children really shine through dance each week. The academy is like an extended family, and we all support each other, teachers, and students alike!”
Ruby – Tutor
Teaching at the academy is not a job for Ruby, “it’s truly my favorite day of the week”. Getting to share her passion with the next generation of performers makes her extremely happy. “I believe in treating all children the same. From the youngest students of the school to the eldest I treat them all like little adults so they feel equal to the academy staff and members. They are so smart, talented, and full of joy”, Ruby says. That’s what makes the academy special. Ruby is currently studying at a 1-year diploma at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.
Ruby has been working professionally with her agent since she was 11: her latest role in a Dutch TV ad filmed in Amsterdam.
Sarah – Tutor
Sarah has danced since the age of 4, training at Lacey Theatre Arts dance school. She is trained in many different disciplines of dance such as Ballet, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. Sarah has lots of experience working with Children having assisted with teaching dance classes and she is currently working towards her IDTA Associate Ballet Teacher qualification.
Sarah has represented the South of England in the IDTA ballet championships at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. She has also performed in the professional Qdos Entertainment Company’s pantomime at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings for the past 4 years. In 2018 Sarah had the chance to choreograph the show “Anything Goes” with the Renaissance Theatre Company, raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice.
Michelle – Tutor
Michelle aka Miss Sheel, studied at the International School of Screen Acting in London & is currently studying for a degree in Film & Drama. She has worked in the entertainment industry in the UK and abroad for 20 years as an actress, singer & voice-over artiste. Michelle absolutely loves teaching the children & seeing them grow in confidence.
